Flock is a dystopian nightmare company

Flock make surveillance tech. Around our town are Flock automated license plate readers, tracking our every move and making these locations available to unknown agencies. It is a documented fact that ICE has used data from Flock cameras to track down targets.

We've all read 1984. Absolutely no one thought to themselves "This would be good as long as Donald Trump and Mike Braun are running it." Yet, Bloomington is an active participant in the construction of an Orwellian system of surveillance. As long as we allow these cameras in our town, we're complicit in bringing about a future of technologically driven control and domination.

People need to know!

Adopt-A-Flock is a new program whereby participants will "adopt" a flock camera near them for the sake of ensuring that the camera is clearly labelled as surveillance at all times. We hope that by doing so we will raise awareness of this surveillance technology. The point of raising awareness is to exert real electoral pressure on mayor Kerry Thomson, hopefully leading to her cutting the Flock contract altogether.

To participate, reach out to us on instagram at @adoptaflock so that we can label the camera you want to adopt on the map. To be clear, we will not share any details whatsoever. Instead, we will simply mark the camera on our map as adopted so that everyone does't end up adopting the same cameras. Please see the map below for the locations of all known cameras as of March 1.

If you know of a Flock camera that isn't shown below, please add it to the map at DeFlock and we will pull it into our map.
